This space was designed to be....

Before construction began we worked alongside the architect to place this room directly next to the home's side entrance, making it the natural drop spot for bags, shoes, and coats. We pulled inspiration from purposeful storage elements used in a traditional mud room and installed full height, shaker style cabinets to keep the room organized and practical.

As the sunlight shines in, the muted shades of blue ground the space. We styled the room with minimal patterns and accessories for a cohesive, fresh, and clean atmosphere.

Due to the nature of laundry and the incidents with red clay that are bound to happen with 3 boys and a creek close by, we carefully chose textiles and materials that were not susceptible to water damage or stains. The natural cork flooring is both comfortable for standing and durable enough to withstand the spills in a laundry room setting. A closet rod runs over the deep sink, providing a place for hanging clothes to dry— plus a counter below for stacks of folded laundry. The surrounding cabinetry houses utilitarian supplies needed for laundry as well as a laundry chute that runs from the kids' rooms upstairs to make gathering laundry quick and easy.
